Accessibility Statement
Last updated: May 27, 2026
1. Our Commitment
Petra, owned and operated by LarkTek, LLC, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards so that our public-facing web pages are usable by the widest possible audience.
2. Conformance Target
We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Our goal aligns with applicable requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for public-facing digital services.
3. Scope
This statement applies to Petra public pages that do not require staff authentication, including:
- The Petra marketing website (home, about, contact, and legal pages)
- Public memorial pages accessed via QR codes or direct links
- Customer portal pages accessed through secure account links
- Payment checkout and card-setup pages
- Sign-in and account recovery pages
Authenticated staff operations pages within customer organizations are designed primarily for internal business use and are evaluated separately.
4. Accessibility Features
Petra public pages include the following accessibility measures:
- Skip navigation links to bypass repeated content and go directly to the main page area
- Semantic HTML landmarks such as navigation, main content, and footer regions
- Visible keyboard focus indicators on interactive elements
- Text alternatives for meaningful images, including memorial photos and organization logos
- Form labels and error messaging associated with inputs, including alert roles for validation errors
- Keyboard-operable controls for interactive components such as memorial gallery lightboxes
- Reduced-motion support that respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting - Responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels
- Page language declared on all HTML documents (
lang="en")
5. Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain:
- User-generated memorial content — Photos, videos, and text contributed by families or guests may not always include complete descriptions or captions.
- Third-party services — Payment processing (Stripe), maps (Leaflet/OpenStreetMap), and embedded media players may have their own accessibility characteristics outside our direct control.
- Legacy content — Older memorial media uploaded before caption support may rely on contextual fallback descriptions.
- PDF and document exports — Generated documents may not yet meet the same conformance level as our web pages.
We monitor these areas and prioritize fixes that affect the most users.
6. Assessment Methods
Petra evaluates accessibility through a combination of:
- Automated checks against WCAG 2.1 criteria
- Manual keyboard and screen reader testing on major public page templates
- Code review of new public-facing features before release
- Feedback from customers and end users

9. Continuous Improvement
